| Origianal onset of VF was in October 2009 - now I continue to have leg pain and discomfort as well as fasciculations of the muscles in legs and arms. Energy level is up and down. Latest blood test says: "INDETERMINATE RESULT AND COMPLEMENT FIXATION SUGGESTS POSSIBLE CHANGE IN EXPOSURE STATUS-REPEAT IN 10-14 DAYS. (COCCI AB IgM (EIA) INDETERMINATE) What does this mean? |

DRGW,
I apologize for not responding sooner to your post. I don't offer get a chance to read the message board. Your post said: "INDETERMINATE RESULT AND COMPLEMENT FIXATION SUGGESTS POSSIBLE CHANGE IN EXPOSURE STATUS-REPEAT IN 10-14 DAYS. (COCCI AB IgM (EIA) INDETERMINATE)"
This means that the EIA blood test isn't producing a clear positive or negative. A test in the future could clarify whether VF is still active (or reactivating) to cause your current symptoms.
The repeated test was recommended in 10-14 days because a negative VF test one week could become positive the next week in the same person who may have had VF all along. If the reaction to the second test is clearly positive, it would indicate a likelihood that VF is causing these symptoms.
Did you get the second test yet?
EIA tests are the most accurate VF blood tests in a comparative study I had seen. One study should not be seen as "absolute truth" but it said this was the best VF blood test with an 86% accuracy rate. Sometimes the tests have false negatives - so even if you have VF, it may not show up in the test. False positives are the opposite but far less common.
Please let me know the results of your second test.
If in the future Sharon and I don't get to respond quick enough to a post please send your questions or concerns directly to voiceforaction@valleyfeversurvivor.com
