Hi Bleu,
Well its been a little while since I've been on here. Glad your test all came back ok. Sometimes it is really disappointing that they can't find something though and just fix it! My shoulder and neck still hurt like crazy. My left arm hurts too up in the bicep area. I'm trying hard not to complain cuz people start avoiding you when your a whiner. I have been seeing a massage therapist every two weeks for about 3 months. It is a short fix but it gives me something to look forward to. He is amazed at how ridgid and tight those muscles continue to be. I only have about a weeks worth of muscle relaxants left for at night and then I will have to go back to my G.P. and try to either get more meds or find another test or get a referral to another doctor. I tried not taking anything but I just wasn't getting good rest. It really is frustrating and exhausting! I am so drained from the pain, but can't sleep because of the pain without them. I just wish one of us could figure this thing out! Are you able to work? i am working about 35 hours a week in 3.5 days. My days off are just as hard with 4 kids to run around. But..... still very thankful!!!!!!
Never Never Never Give up!

Someone wrote that their Dr. does not think that shoulder and neck pain and stiffness is due to VF. Mine doen't either......BUT I KNOW IT IS!!!
I did not have it before! It got very bad when I was on the Flucoizone (spelling is wrong) so bad I could not shift the car. After I got off it got much better. I just have to move it wrong and it hurts a lot and sometimes it will not stop for days. Mine is the right shoulder and left neck area. I never back down with my Dr.'s if I think something has to do with VF. even if they continue to say it is not. It is my body and I know what is and is not with it.
My titers are low and I also come back negative for the last year. My lungs seem to have stayed the same for the last year and I am not to see the lung Dr. unless I want to. I plan on doing a lung xray once a year at least and 6 months if anyone on here tells me I should. _________________ I have just be told I have Valley Fever.

Hi Carol,
I hope you don't mind me asking......but, is it your right lung that is more affected from the VF? or Have you had lung surgery?

| I have not posted in awhile I was diagnosed Dec. 09 and am on 400 mg flucanazole. I have had left shoulder and neck pains and severe head aches( yes Dr. s don't want to admit it has anything to do with VF) I had X-rays and so on my headaches still remain but not like they were when I was at my worst. Shoulder pain was very painful and they gave me cortisone shots which have worked greatly. Neck pain has finally decreased with ibuprofen and trying to do some relaxing/stretching. I have a red kinda distorted build up on my right middle finger nuckle that I have seen a hand specialist for, he wants to open it up to make sure no cocci is causing it but he wants me off flucanazole before, to see if it goes once I am off meds. (mainly cause his surgery schedule is 3 mths out). I have lost extreme amounts of hair in the last 6 weeks and have had to cut my just blow shoulder length hair to about chin length and it is very thin at the crown. I am becoming very self conscious about it. My ID doctor is sending me to a dermatologist shortly. I will be off flucanazole by 6/21/10. I will see after that what comes about better I hope. My family and friends constantly ask me how I feel. I think I feel good, but I think alot of time I have just learned to adapt to not feeling good and only notice when somedays I feel worse. I hope someday to breath and say wow I feel great! I try to stay possitive. I do have alot of support and am also very thankful for this site. I wish good health to all and pray for all afflicted with any health issue. |

In answer to which lung is most effected. I do not know. I did at some point, but do not remember.
TINKERBELL:
As for the neck and shoulder pain. Most Dr.s seem to not believe half of what we tell them. Just keep telling them.
I waited until I went off the medicine and most of the shoulder pain left. I cut my hair that was to my waist,to a short pixie. For some reason it seems to not come out as much. BUT after I stopped the medicine (same as you are on).......these things got much better.
As I read your problems,I have been lucky and did not have to have any surgery or extra pills. Oh I did use Alieve for pain at times. I itched all over, but that also left mostly after getting off the medicine. That medicine is a cause to a lot of our aliments. I had one Dr. tell me some of his people with VF are on it only a month. I think now that I know more,I might have been able to not take it or at least not done it as long. I was on it for only 6-8 months. I doubt I will go on it again,if I would get it again. I will try to work through it.
We all have to do what is good for us.
Good luck. And I am here if you need to talk more. _________________ I have just be told I have Valley Fever.

| Some months back I posted a message about left shoulder and neck pain which I had been experiencing from the onset of my illness with valley fever. After many a doctor visit, x-ray, CT scans, MRI, you name it I had it just like so many others with VF.....I was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia. I had surgery five days ago. I am hoping that this will put an end to my shoulder and neck pain. |
